A Week in Gaming 2nd Quest #4: 1/23 – 1/29

This was a week of productivity. I really crashed through a lot of material, slaying task after task until the culmination of my accomplishments lay before me in a defeated heap. Dispatch, intensity and diligence saw me through to the end and I am proud of my successes.

I also did barely any homework over the course of the week.

I hit gaming very hard this past week and I have three new completed games and a new beaten game to show for it. On top of that, I did a record 11 hour, 52 minute stream on Thursday. Within that time period, I put at least five hours into Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (and loved it), proceeded to aimlessly dick around in both Golden Sun and Fire Emblem (the former with snarking, the latter with boredom), and would have ended there if not for a proposed challenge (as I saw it on my end) to do a 100% No Death / No Save run in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past GBA. Cue the next 4 hours and 18 minutes being nothing but me ripping through the game, kicking the ass of all of Ganon’s flunkies like they were bitches without any swaggah.

And now, in no particular order, the four games I took out this week were… Continue reading

A Week in Gaming 2nd Quest #3: 1/16 – 1/22

Huzzah, classes started! It’s only been a week into the 2011 Spring semester and I’m already loving it. Or having severe anxiety due to feeling like I’m not getting anything done. Considering every time I read a textbook I become incredibly sleepy going hand-in-hand with my lack of being able to absorb information through reading creates a solution where I’m usually two steps behind. I don’t know what it is! I could be fully awake and energetic, then a half hour of boring reading later I’m ready to pass out and I remember nothing about what I’ve read. Hoping that the optimism I have for these classes gives me enough energy to actually pass them, but we’ll see.

One upside to my schedule is that I’m on campus only 3 hours a day each Tuesday and Thursday. This means more time at home, more time by my computer, and more time for vidya. Comparatively, I’ve managed to beat two SNES platformers in the past few days, while I’ve barely made progress on reading about World History or different Psychologies. Pretty sure this is a bad thing, but I’ve still got time (I hope).

So, while I’ve made substantial progress in Harvest Moon (VC), Little King’s Story, and FFVIII, the games I took out this past week were… Continue reading

A Week in Gaming 2nd Quest #2: 1/9 – 1/15

This past week has been a whirlwind of activity. Truth be told I feel a little discombobulated now, and felt really disoriented a few days ago. Four of the seven days this past week I’ve had friends over for long stretches of time and time flew by as a result. My progress in fighting Bak’Laag stagnated somewhat, but I’ve had a ridiculously fun time. Mostly we played Super Smash Bros. Brawl. In fact, outside of some messing around in Borderlands, that’s pretty much all we played together. I did, however, manage to complete two games during my free time when not with friends. A Week in Gaming 2nd Quest #1: 1/2 – 1/8

It’s crazy that I’ve been doing this for over a year now. Writing and keeping (mostly) regular updates on my gaming experience for you all to read. I know this stuff is just delightful to sift through, so here’s some more updates and food for thought.

The past week was pretty mellow for me. Well, mellow outside of the rage at three of the games I played. This week was filled with variety as I made progress in Heroes of Might & Magic III, Final Fantasy VIII, Game & Watch Gallery, DuckTales 2 GB and both version of Survival in Minecraft.
